Anna Hall is Miss Heart Of Southern Missouri’s Outstanding Teen. Her social impact initiative is called Project Wallflower. The goal of Project Wallflower is to help young girls with social anxiety and confidence issues burst out of their shells and chase their dreams.

The story of Project Wallflower

Many young girls across the country struggle with feeling like they belong. They do not branch out and make new friends, they are not the life of the party. They have beautiful personalities but they lack confidence. Their own self doubt cripples them until they start to feel like a spectator, a wallflower, watching everyone else have fun and having no idea how to join in. I was one of those young girls. I wanted to make new friends and be more social, I wanted to be the life of the party. I wanted to break out of my shell but I just could not. Until one day I decided to try something new. I joined a program that required a lot of public speaking and a lot of socializing. It was out of my comfort zone and I had no idea what I was doing. But I was not alone. Many older girls in the program took the time to mentor me and they helped me build my self confidence.

Through the very same program I had the opportunity to help mentor four young girls who were a lot like me. Helping them break out of their shells and grow their confidence inspired me. That is why I started project wallflower. I know there are many more young girls out their who have no one to help them, no one to tell them they can do anything they set their mind to.

That is where I want to step is as Miss Southern Missouri’s outstanding teen. My plan is to speak at as many schools as possible, planting seeds of confidence and encouraging others to try new things. I want to use my title to spread awareness on social media, with daily positive reminders and challenges, creating a safe space for girls to find encouragement as well as giving them the confidence boost they need to try something new.

From my experience I learned to overcome, the way I do that is through building my self confidence and learning to be comfortable with myself and who I am. The reason I do this is because I want to show others that they can overcome too. My goal is to help other girls learn how to overcome and achieve their dreams, as well as being okay with who they are and what they see in the mirror. This is what I want to do now as Miss Southern Missouri’s outstanding teen, this summer as Miss Missouri’s outstanding teen, and in the fall as Miss America’s outstanding teen.

As Miss Southern Missouri’s outstanding teen, Miss Missouri’s outstanding teen, and Miss America’s outstanding teen I want to lead the next generation of girls to achieve their dreams and overcome their obstacles, building confidence and making sure they know their self worth. Even if I only inspire one girl, that’s one less wallflower and that is what matters to me.

Anna’s Promise

Anna Hall

The symbol of project wallflower is the “Anna’s Promise” Rose. I selected this flower because of its name. To me, the name “Anna’s Promise” symbolizes my promise I made to the MMOT organization and to all of you when I won my local title. This promise is to never stop working towards helping young girls like myself who are “Wallflowers”.
